The Everglades is a unique ecosystem of 1.4 million of acres combining shallow waters covered by sawgrass, mangrove forests, prairies, marshy rivers dotted with tree-islands. The park is home to thousands of species of animals including endangered species such as the Florida Panther, American Crocodile and Green Turtle. Everglades National Park is a World Heritage Site that receives more than 1 million visitors a year. The best way to experience the park is probably by boat or by participating to a Ranger led walk. The park offers excellent opportunities for bird watching but also biking, hiking, fishing. The park is accessible via 3 entrances: Everglades City, Homestead and Shark Valley.
